April/May 2024 Exam Diet

Dear students,

We are writing to you about arrangements for the April/May 2024 exam diet.  Over the past few weeks information has been gathered from Schools about the number of exams to be scheduled, the number of students enrolled and the mode of delivery that Schools have requested for each exam – i.e. whether each exam will be held in-person, online timed or online open for 24 hours.

A number of factors will inform the University’s decisions about the mode of delivery of exams in the April/May diet. However, it is expected that in almost all cases the mode of delivery for each April/May 2024 exam will be the same as the mode of delivery for which your School has been preparing you. If your School has been preparing you for an in-person exam, in almost all cases that is how the exam will be delivered at the April/May 2024 exam diet. Conversely, if your School has been preparing you for an online exam, in almost all cases that is how the exam will be delivered online at the April/May 2024 exam diet.

Full details of the exam timetable and exam arrangements will be published on 19 March 2024. However, Schools will contact their students by 22 February 2024 to confirm which exams will be held in-person, online timed or online open for 24 hours.

In the unlikely event that an exam does change from online delivery to in-person delivery for the April/May 2024 diet, Schools will provide additional study and revision support and advice to ensure that all students are well prepared for the in-person format. Also, appropriate exam adjustments (including e.g. extra time, separate accommodation or alternative assessment formats) will continue to be made, as required, for students with additional needs.

In the meantime, we ask that you continue to engage with your studies and prepare thoroughly for the April/May exam diet while the University finalises the planning for it.

We know you might have questions about your exam arrangements. Please don't get in touch with your School immediately, but keep a look out for further communications coming very soon as outlined above.
