Resources for REF Impact Case Studies
- Evidence Guidance : This table details the different types of evidence, best use, complementary types and more (from HEFCE-commissioned paper published in 2016, Collecting Research Impact Evidence).
- Examples of impact and relevant evidence: REF2021 guidance contains a comprehensive and useful table of impact examples in every sector, and provides suggested evidence that would be expected to support these impact claims in a REF case study.
- Guidance on standardisation of quantitative indicators of impact (Rand Europe for Research England, published 2018 and available as part of REF2021 guidance).
- Research User Information sheet used for REF2014 (requires login with GUID) explains REF to external research users, how information they provide will be used in an impact case study, as well as confidentiality issues and options. This will be updated once the final REF2021 guidance is out, but is useful in the interim.
- Guidance for eligible output types can be helpful when compiling the references for the research underpinning impact case studies.
- Knowledge Exchange & Impact repository records activities and documentation related to external engagement activities and stores (non-confidential) documents which may be useful as evidence in an impact case study.
- REF2014 Impact Case Study database is a searchable database of all published impact case studies submitted in REF2014.
