In 2017 we were awarded a Queen’s Anniversary Prize for Higher Education, the highest accolade for any higher education institution, for our work on the Historical Thesaurus of English.

Our University Library is one of the most significant in the UK, including a world-class collection of manuscripts and early printed books.

Special facilities include a phonetics laboratory with a recording studio and acoustic analysis software, made available to our undergraduate honours and postgraduate students.
